Helping our healthcare heroes

With the continuing spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus threatening to overwhelm Australia's healthcare system, we've been inspired to hear the many stories of healthcare workers joining to help fight at the front lines of the crisis, from retired nurses and doctors, to other medical practitioners such as physiotherapists and radiographers volunteering for the virus-fighting “cavalry”.

We know that helping those infected with the virus is dangerous, yet necessary and important work.

Healthcare workers have a much higher risk of infection that the general population because they are directly exposed to the virus on a daily basis.

This creates a difficult situation for healthcare workers living in multi-person households, who are rightly worried about spreading any potential infection to other members of their households, particularly anyone in a vulnerable groups such as elderly family members or those with underlying health issues.
