Sydney's Blue Mountains set for bumper winter in 2021 as domestic holidays boom

Bookings for short-term rental accommodation in Sydney's Blue Mountains are surging as holiday makers continue turning to domestic travel with overseas trips remaining off the cards for most Australians in 2021.

As at the beginning of June, available nights for MadeComfy's Blue Mountains properties for the next two months are increasingly being booked out, with weekends particularly popular with Sydney-siders seeking cozy mountain escapes away from the city. At the rate of current bookings, we're forecasting an average occupancy rate over the next two months upwards of 85%.

The Autumn, Winter and Spring periods are traditionally the peak season for short-term rental accommodation in the Blue Mountains, and 2021 is set to supercharge the popularity of the region as domestic travel continues to thrive.

Blue Mountains Short-Term Rental Market

Despite the impact of COVID-19 travel restrictions last year and the 2020 Summer Bushfires, the Blue Mountains experienced high demand for self-contained, private short-term rentals in 2020, achieving record average nightly rates in December 2020 and January 2021 above $260 across all property sizes, following the easing of travel restrictions toward the end of the year.
